Linsey Interiors is a small business which began nine years ago in Toledo , OH as a design center concentrating on a single niche of custom silk greenery and trees, has evolved into a home-based interior design firm with a vast array of services available to customers. These include digital imaging, AutoCAD layouts and blueprints, hand renderings and conceptual sketching, plant scaping, window treatments, custom furniture, lighting, custom artwork, and accessories for both residential and commercial applications. “My company's name is a combination of my daughters' names: Kaitlin and Chelsey. At the time of establishing my business, my two girls were the most important and inspirational people in my life. My success is a dedication to them,” said owner Shery Merkle. This stands as one of the many examples of personable and original creativity Shery has shown throughout her career. Owner and head designer Shery Merkle moved her one-woman firm to the Rochester, NY area in hopes of earning a promising reputation and important contacts throughout the interior design community. “I relocated to NY three years ago and have been marketing and building my business from the bottom up,” said Shery Merkle. Located along one of the smaller Finger Lakes, Conesus Lake near Geneseo, NY, Linsey Interiors of 5803 Barber Hill Road serves all of NY State and Shery’s home town Toledo, OH. “I began with on the job experience,” said Shery Merkle, “After years of participating in residential design events such as Parade of Homes and the Homearama for other designers, a builder asked me to design and furnish his show case house in my home town. Without having any actual accredited interior design practice, I won best interior design for that house.” A well-planned marketing effort keeps the office phone of Linsey Interiors ringing. The firm is listed under three categories in the Rochester Yellow Pages including interior designers, window treatments, and custom silk plants. But of course, referrals and word of mouth have had the most and best impact on the growth and spread of the business. Linsey Interiors often attends trade conventions such as the semi-annual High Point show in North Carolina and the International Window Coverings Expo in Tampa , FL to find new inspiration for future projects. Currently, Linsey Interiors employs skills on each side of the interior design profession, business design and technical design. Linsey Interiors recently worked with a builder, Gerber Homes, on a Homearama show case house in Canandaigua. “The 2006 Western NY Homearama has been my first showcase home in NY since the move; my 7 th project overall. Right Now you can see Shery and Linsey Interiors in the 2008 Homarama, located in Perinton, NY. Shery did the Interior Design for Ron Henkel and Pinnacle Homes.
